Methodology and Sources
How StreamingFreeTrial.com sources, verifies, and refreshes every trial length, cancel mechanic, free-tier offer, and carrier bundle on this site. Every source row links to the streaming service's own help centre or terms page. No aggregator article appears as a source.

02a In scope
- ✓Trial length per service and start-of-billing day (day 1 = sign-up day).
- ✓Cancel mechanic per service across the platform you signed up through (service website, Apple Settings, Google Play, Amazon, Roku).
- ✓No-credit-card-required services: Apple TV+ among the trial services, and Tubi / Pluto TV / Peacock Free among the free-tier services.
- ✓Free-tier services: Tubi, Pluto TV, Peacock Free (US only).
- ✓Carrier and bundle promotions that effectively serve as trial alternatives (T-Mobile Go5G Plus / Go5G Next, Verizon myPlan, Comcast / Xfinity StreamSaver, Walmart+ Peacock, Instacart+ Peacock, Disney Bundle, Apple One).
- ✓Stacking-rotation calendar math: total free days available if you start one trial at a time and cancel before each ends.
02b Out of scope
- ✕Regional pricing or trial terms outside of US-en. Streaming pricing differs materially by country and exchange rate.
- ✕Enterprise, team, education, or annual employer plans (Spotify for Business, Apple One Family beyond the standard tier, Hulu education plans).
- ✕Gift cards, prepaid balances, third-party reseller codes (eBay, Reddit, Discord promo trades).
- ✕Lifetime subscriptions (no major service offers one as of the verification date).
- ✕Full content libraries beyond the headline marquee shows used as a brand cue per service. We do not maintain a per-show catalog.
- ✕Cable or satellite TV bundles that include streaming as a perk (DirecTV Stream, Spectrum TV, Cox Contour). Audited only insofar as the carrier-bundle alternatives section covers them.
03 Calculation framework
Day 1 is the sign-up day. A 7-day trial that starts on May 11 ends at the same time-of-day on May 18 and auto-renews if not cancelled. Each service's help page confirms this convention; we verify it on the first business week of every month.
Cancel 24-48 hours before the trial's auto-renew time-of-day, never on the same day. The auto-renew is processed in the customer's local time zone for most services; Apple processes it in the customer's App Store country's zone.
Hulu 30 days + Amazon Prime 30 days + Max 7 days + Paramount+ 7 days + Apple TV+ 7 days = 81 total free days. Sequence matters: start longest first so the early-trial habit holds; end with Apple TV+ because no card is required, the only no-risk slot.
Apple TV+ is the only trial service that does not require a credit card for the standard 7-day trial. Among free-tier services, Tubi and Pluto TV require no account at all; Peacock Free requires an account but no payment details.
Available on a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or iPod touch purchase. New Apple TV+ subscriber requirement (or rejoining after a 30-day gap). 90-day claim window from device purchase. One offer per Apple ID; the 7-day standard trial and the 3-month device offer cannot be combined.
Differential ranges from $3 (Hulu $8.99 to $18.99) to $7 (Max $9.99 to $16.99). At about 4-6 ad-minutes per hour on the ad-supported tier, the ad-free uplift works out to roughly $0.40-$0.90 per hour of viewing if you watch one hour daily; lower per-hour if you watch more.
04 Refresh cadence
Monthly first-business-week pass against every service's help centre. The verification date is held in a single constant (LAST_VERIFIED_DATE in src/lib/schema.ts) that every page and every schema dateModified reads from. Cosmetic refreshes are not possible: the date moves only when the trial-and-pricing table has been reconciled.
Out-of-cycle reconciliation triggers:
- ⟳Any major service publishing a trial-ended notice (Disney+ followed this pattern in June 2024; Netflix in October 2020; Peacock in November 2021).
- ⟳T-Mobile, Verizon, or Xfinity changing the streaming-included plan tier.
- ⟳Apple changing the device-offer terms or the standard 7-day trial.
- ⟳Peacock changing the Walmart+ or Instacart+ bundle structure.
- ⟳Paramount+ Showtime tier merger pricing change.
- ⟳Max ad-tier rate change or new Ultimate-tier launch.
05 Limitations
- •Vendor pricing can drift between monthly verification cycles. The LAST_VERIFIED label on the footer indicates when the trial-and-pricing table on this site was last reconciled to each service's help page.
- •Trial offers are sometimes A/B-tested per device or geography. Two readers signing up the same day may see different trial lengths or promo codes. Where we suspect this, the page notes it.
- •New-subscriber eligibility is checked by the streaming service. A previous subscription within the past 12 months may exclude you from the standard trial. Service-specific exclusion windows are noted on each service's help page.
- •Carrier-bundle eligibility (T-Mobile, Verizon, Xfinity, Walmart+, Instacart+) depends on the specific plan tier you carry. We list the eligibility criteria but cannot verify per-user.
